There is the foot pedal to my right on the floor. That is where it stays all the time. Again, don't mind the mess. I have been creating! :)
There is it's home on the shelf. I can lean back and grab it with one hand and put it on my table. Again, messy messy messy! LOL
Hi all! I just got an e-mail from Hancock Fabrics and there is going to be a one day sale on Saturday, November 15th.
Included in the sale is the Janome Sew Mini sewing machine, which is what I use! It will be on sale for $39.99 (reg $59.99). There is also FREE SHIPPING for orders of $50 or more. I would suggest adding some of the Janome bobbins (cannot use other ones to the best of my non-seamstress knowledge) for different colors of thread to your order to bump it up to $50 and not have to pay shipping.
Of course I don't work for Janome OR Hancock Fabrics. Just passing along the deal because it is a REALLY good price and I LOVE my Janome Sew Mini. :)
I will be using mine to bring you some sewing tips in the near future! :)
Pros: lightweight
- compact
- sews like a REAL sewing machine
- 7 stitch options
- easy to use (I am not a seamstress and I figured it out) LOL
Cons:
- it's light weight makes it unsturdy if you don't sew on a flat surface of a sturdy table (I don't, I sew on my craft table, but it's ok for me that it bounces a little)
- No light attached
- only 7 stitches
I store mine to the right of where I sit and stamp on my metal shelving. When I want to sew, I lean back in my chair and grab it with one hand and put it on my table. Then, I grab the foot pedal with my foot and put it in place. When I am done, I kick the foot pedal out of the way and stick the sewing machine back in it's place on the shelf. Easy peasy! :)
I adore my janome, and I think you're the one that originally made me buy it (made me... yeah, really twisted my arm!) Glad I'm not the only one who's stamp area looks like that! LOL! I'm trying to do damage control down there today!
ReplyDeleteI love you for sharing the picture of your messy stamping area ~ believe me, there are tons of people out there right now who are feeling just a little bit better about not being the only ones...including me! I would love, love , love to buy this sewing machine. It has been at the top of my wish list for a long time. But I'm not sure I would be able to figure it out, as I am a total non-sewing person.
ReplyDeleteThis is GREAT news! Except of course, that I live in Canada, and they only ship to the US. I have been looking for a Janome mini for about a year, and I can't find anything comparable. If you hear of any sales in Canada I would LOVE to know!
ReplyDeleteHehe. . . Jody, you'd be right at home in my workspace! Honestly, the rest of my house isn't bad (other than dust), but my workspace--that's another story. . . I have too many ideas and too little time to want to spend it "tidying up!" And I'll be clicking on this sale tomorrow. Thanks for the notice!
ReplyDeleteOk, I have to admit, I wasn't enabled by the little sewing machine....HOWEVER, I was enabled by the pictures and descriptions of your craft room. You've enabled me to be comfortable of the sty I work in! HAHAH Thanks! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jodi, for the 'alert'. But more importantly, thanks for sharing the pics of your crafting area....I'm so glad to know I'm not alone in my world of crafting chaos! My favorite prayer: "Oh Lord, please bless my mess!"
ReplyDeleteLOL...thanks for sharing.

Me too I live in Canada and would love one of these but with no shipping to Canada it's just a tease...it's not fair! HMPH! LOL..
ReplyDeleteAnd of course nothing is comparable to the Janome.
Oh~ I'm so glad my messy craft room has so many just like it all around the country!!! It stays clean just for a short time, and messy forever! I guess thats creativity at work! And thatnks for the tip- I'm off to check it out!
ReplyDeleteJody, my friend, we love you for sharing your mess with us!!! I am sitting in the middle of my huge pile of junk (excuse me, I mean crafting materials), just groaning because I need to clean it up. Love ya!
ReplyDeleteHugs,

You're craft room cracked me up. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI love my Janome and while I don't use it as much as I would like to, I'm getting better at it!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the heads up on the Janome Sew Mini. I've been wanting one for a while and now I might take the plunge. Are the extra bobbins the only thing you need in addition to the sewing machine? I've never used a sewing machine before so I have absolutely no clue! But I'm looking forward to learning! :)
ReplyDeleteI love this little machine, and I have a big Bernina, which I love, but I hate to bring it out to sew. Plus, it intimidates my customers....so I am glad to see what you've done with it1 I also added your blog to my blog....and I love your room..it is so heartwarming that my room is not alone in the clutter...er...creative decor! lol
ReplyDeleteWhen I first saw your post, I though "How did Jody get a picture of my stamp area?"? LOL! Glad I'm not the only one!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the alert Jody! I've been wanting this machine for ages, but also wanting it at the $39.99 price. This machine is now happily on its way to me.
Linda
Hey, Jody, I did it--score one Janome comin' home to me!
ReplyDeleteI am glad to see I am not the only one with a messy craft area. I already have a Janome and love it. That is a good deal though.
ReplyDeleteOMGosh, I felt at home (in my craft area) when I saw your area. It looked so familiar, I couldn't help but chuckle. That's usually what happens and what it looks like, when we are busy creating. But who cares...it was fun making the big mess (lol).
ReplyDeleteAnyhow, your card is very pretty and I love the brown tone. TFS!
OMG! THis has to be one of the funniest posts I have ever read! It's amazing that you can create in that mess...but let me say that your work doesn't reflect the disaster of your room! lol your work is always fab. I love seeing someone else's room look so much like mine. I wish my cards looked more like yours too!
ReplyDeletethanks for sharing your messy space! I LOVE IT!
Bwahahahahaha! Your stamp area looks like mine! And when I pull out my Cuddlbug, I sit it on top of whatever is on my table too! LOL. And, uh, I miss my trash can all the time. (Sorry to ignore all the info about the sewing machine. I just like the mess. lol)
ReplyDeleteTHANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU -- because of your heads-up, I have a Janome heading to my house...a sale plus free shipping - does it get any better than that?
ReplyDeleteI love your work, but I have to confess..... I could never create with all that chaos around me! LOL - everyone is different and I have several friends who create well with chaos ;) I looked at the first picture and immediately wanted to come organize for you! LOL
ReplyDeleteOh for cryin' out loud! I missed it by one day. I knew I should have did my blog visits yesterday. Sigh. Thanks for sharing the news!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing that deal! I have wanted one of those Janome mini's for a while - I'll have to tell "Santa". I am loving that MS snow glitter too!
ReplyDeleteThis was a post that hit home with me!! I can't believe how much I demolish my room, then clean it up for another card making round!! LOL So nice not to feel like the only 'messy' crafter out there! How brave to take pictures too! haha
ReplyDeletemine isn't that accessible, but i leave the plug and pedal on the floor, so it's plug and go. i {heart} my janome!
ReplyDeleteI *LOVED* this post!! Made me feel a lot better about the disaster that is my desk. Your little labels on the photos cracked me up! I love my Janome, and use it pretty much the same way you do.
ReplyDeleteCrud! I was wishing for one of these for Christmas and I missed it!! Be sure to post if you hear of it again, won't you?? Thanks!!
ReplyDeleteHey are you sure you weren't in my craft room? Your desk looks exactly like my busy mess! What a hoot to know there are ladies with my same passion. I never worry about cleaning..gitter done it my motto!
ReplyDeleteKeep up the good work and thanks for making me feel normal!
Debi in Florida
And I was thinking I was the only one to have a desk like that!! Wanna check out mine?

I'm glad there are awesome crafters out there with a desk as bad as mine! You made me feel 10 times better about the mess that I work in! Thank you for sharing :)
Whoopee!! I saw that sale and finally got my Janome!!! Haven't really gotten to use it yet but tried it out a little and I love it! Had bought a Singer Pixie at Wal Mart and had to take it back. I am fortunate in that I have room on my table and just pull it towards me. (have to remember not to put junk in front of tho, still learning)
ReplyDeleteOOPS! signed off before I said what I originally signed on to say. Thanks for the picture. I am showing it to my DH so he can see I am not the only messy stamper! And the comments will help too! THANKS!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE how you used the wire shelf for your punches!!! very clever!!
