This card is all about the shiny wood flooring. I fell in love with Candice's hand drawn wood flooring and decided I would try it for myself. For me, drawing a straight line is a momentous task, so the thought I drew this is AMAZING! Now mind you, like any uptight, detailed person, I used a ruler and measured my planks out so they would each be exactly the same size and evenly spaced! LMBO! I know... I know... *shakes head at self*
I colored the image in with Copics and then wanted some texture on the chaise lounger. I needed a mask for the entire image other than the chaise, so I made one using Eclipse tape and stuck it on there. Then, I stamped a twill background stamp over the chaise in white pigment ink. It added just the little touch I was looking for. I paper pieced her skirt with the intention of using the paper on my card. At this point, my colors were chosen, my image was colored, my skirt was pieced (e-Girls skirt that is... I was wearing sweats with holes in them if you are wondering). Now the big decision... instant gratification of finishing the card, or an overnight wait as crystal effects dried on the hard wood flooring. It was hard and it took me a full couple minutes to talk myself into 1.) applying the crystal effects even though I feared I would screw up my card and 2.) being willing to wait a whole day to finish said card or risk screwing up crystal effects on card. *sigh* Then I grabbed the crystal effects and started squirting it on. Thank goodness all was well. I got it all on there and then walked to the craft table that is supposed to be for my girls and stuck it on there... and walked away. I'll have you know I waited a WHOLE day to finish this card! YAY for patience. Thanks, Candice for the inspiration. I know it's not as cute as yours, but I tried. :)
I finished off the card with some black ribbon, a cool WOOL FELT FLOWER (which is really cool BTW), and a clear button that I added some glitter to. I desperately wanted to add the sentiment: Sending {{{Hugs}}}, but I couldn't fit it anywhere, so I settled for the inside and dressed it up a bit too. :)
I almost forgot, this card was made using Jen del Muro's card sketch. You can find it HERE and play along if you would like. A sketch challenge is great. I take it as a task. Sit down and follow it. Before you know it... you'll have a card... or FOUR! LOL Yes... I made FOUR cards using this sketch over the past couple days. I have them scheduled for the next 4 days starting TODAY! That will make 8 days in a row of blog posting. Don't faint! LOL It is my mission to post once a day. I have my fingers crossed and my butt in my stamp room to make that happen! Wish me luck! :)
