Sweet Delight

This card was made using my new Taylored Expressions Stamps.

I stamped the image in Memento Black, colored with Copics and die cut with my Labels 2 Nestabilities.

I kept the card clean and simple. I wanted the focus to be on the cute cupcake. :)

This card uses Jen's sketch found HERE.

I was asked for some sewing tips. I will attempt to work on a tutorial of some sort for that in the next week or so. :)

Thanks to everyone who educated me on the flavor and background of red velvet cake. :) LOL That was very interesting! Did you know that red velvet cake is chocolate? CRAZY! LOL Who knew?

I was also asked for more Jody Rules. :) I am glad to know someone appreciates my "rules". LOL I will attempt to incorporate those into my posts as well when something jumps out at me. :)
Jody Rules for this card:
  • Instead of having brad prongs, stitching and ribbon that is taped showing on the inside of the card, attach a mat (same color is ok) that is 1/8" smaller on each side. The inside of your card will be clean! I usually attach this mat to my card base using red line tape.
  • If, when sewing, any of your corners are "off" just a little, stick a brad in each corner to disguise your sewing mistake.
  • NEVER leave loose threads on the front of the card. Pull them through to the back side of the card and tape down the loose ends. To do this, just start tugging in the area of the thread and when you find it, pull it through. I use a paper piercer to help me do this.
  • If you want an embellishment on a card, but don't have the right color embellishment or don't want to pull in another color... go clear! I have a big stash of clear Heidi Swapp ghost shapes, acrylic pieces and other clear things that help me achieve the embellishment I want without making any color no nos!
  • Always try to use dimensional boosters... somewhere. Cards like to be thick. If you only need one stamp... shame on you! LMBO! Well... occasionally it's ok I guess. heehee
Have a wonderful day!
Stamps: TE stamps

  4. heehee! i had to laugh at the "use a dimensional somewhere!" rule. i used to think that they were an unnecessary expense - i know, crazy huh?? it's amazing how much difference they make!
i'll look forward to sewing tips. i tried sewing on some atc's for the first time this weekend and i did not get straight stitches at all! more practice is needed i think - and perhaps a better sewing machine!
