I got a little teary eyed when I was stamping this card, because my "little boy" is starting HIGH SCHOOL this year! Oh my goodness... where did the time go? It seems like just a year or two ago that he was running around the house pretending to be a velocoraptor and now he is a high school student! WOW! I feel O-L-D! I must say, I can't wait to sit in the stands and watch him play football this year! I am going to be a proud football mom! :)
The image was stamped in Memento black and colored with Copic markers. I created the look of stone-washed jeans complete with grass-stained knees! Every boy has those, right? :)
I stamped the image onto Crate Paper Orbit Collection patterned paper and pieced it onto my image so I could show that he is reading a space aliens book. :) I needed a title for the spine of the book, but none of the patterned papers in the collection contained words, so I used the cover sheet with the name of the paper pack on it. :)
I used a glittery die cut strip at the top of the card and added some simple pierced holes to add a little somethin'.
I added LOTS of stitching to this card! Stitched all the panels together... stitched the sentiment panel to the back layer and did some wavy stitching to the main image panel (because boys are messy). :) The star brad is from Making Memories and has a center cut out star, which I used as a "portal" for my silver brad. I resisted the urge to add ribbon, because it's just NOT manly... *heehee*

ReplyDeleteHow cute is THIS with the alien PP on the book!
ReplyDeletewas wondering where you were, haven't seen you in a couple days, now I know you're off crying in the corner. well at least you're making cute cards while you're doing it. funny thing, I altered a book with the Orbit paper last night, but used Monsters Ink as the stamp.
ReplyDeleteyour card is very cute.
I love the way you paper pieced the book! Cute papers and image, and a great card! These milestones are sometimes difficult for a mom to bear, I know. Gosh, for every milestone you pass with your oldest, you've got to repeat it twice more. Hopefully it will get easier...
ReplyDeleteSo super cute!! I love it!!
ReplyDeleteThis is FANTASTIC, Jody! I LOVE the stitching, the grassy knees and that little star in the corner!
