Let's Get Negative

Before you groan and think I am going to rant and rave, let me tell you that today I am getting negative with Die-namics dies.  :)  You know... negative space... the result of the "die-cutting trash" rather than the intended die-cut.  There is more than one way to skin a cat ya know?  Today, the MFT Design Team is going to show you how to use the negative portion of your die-cuts, so sit back, relax, and get ready to learn the art of turning trash into treasure.

I used Textile Rectangle Die-namics and stamp set for my card.  Instead of using the die to cut out the shape and then stamp on it, I cut the shape out of a rectangular panel of card stock and then used the die to create a frame.

Then, I cut a white piece of "patterned paper" (it came from a patterned paper pack, but doesn't have a pattern printed on it, just some random ink stains LOL) slightly smaller than my turquoise card stock and stamped the corresponding houndstooth frame on it, and then the sentiment within that.

Here, you can better view the "frame" with the stamped portion being below.

Here are some plain shots of my frame.

P.S. that ink is part of the "patterned paper", not an ink smudge.  Just so you know... LOL  The patterned paper is from Authentique's Free Bird line.

I also got negative with the Notebook Edge Die-namics die.  Don't see a notebook edge?  Meet the negative of the Notebook Edge Die-namics - The Pom Pom Ribbon "negative".

I illustrated here how it looks.  Isn't that CUTE???  LOVE that about this die.  Love this die anyway... but that makes it even BETTER!

Want to see what the rest of the team came up for this challenge?  Head over to Kim's blog for a full list.

Thanks for visiting and I'll see you soon for Wednesday Stamp Club!  :)
