My card today uses the new Square Grid Cover-Up, paired with the Happy Everything stamp set, Happy Die-namics, and Happy Birthday Background. Initially, I planned to make this a birthday card, but I wanted a longer sentiment for the fishtail flag. Although the background stamp is birthday-themed, with all the color wash and Sheer Shimmer Mist, it's not legible, but still provides a nice text in the background.
- Stamp Happy Birthday Background in Banana Split Hybrid Ink
- Create a color wash with Sheer Shimmer Mist and Premium Dye Ink Refills
- Paint a pattern over the background stamp
- Mix up more color wash because you didn't make enough the first time
- Dip a paintbrush in the color wash and splatter sparingly
- Dry with your heat gun - it will take longer than you expect it to
- Adhere the finished background to a piece of heavy card stock to help straighten it out - color wash and heat-drying cause it to warp
The "Happy" die cut is actually layered with 4 different colors of card stock. It uses all the colors included in the card, which happen to be this month's Color Challenge Palette. Read below how to participate and get colorful. :)
