Shimmery Balloon

My card today uses the new Balloon STAX Die-namics. If you get just one thing this release, make it these balloons… but don't get just one thing - the July release is full of products that will fill your crafty heart with happiness. :)  OK, back to the balloons - OMG I cannot stop using them. They are SO cool, and SO fun, and SO awesome. You'll see them a lot this week on my blog.

Before I did anything to the balloon, I stamped the sentiment in Black Licorice Hybrid Ink using the Happy Everything stamp set. The Hybrid ink is impervious to water-based products so even though I completely saturated this balloon with Sheer Shimmer Mist, the ink didn't run one bit. LOVE that.

I created different colored shimmery sprays using the MIX-ables Sheer Shimmer Mist and Premium Dye Ink Refills. I use the small Ranger spray bottles and add 15 drops of refill to a bottle full of mist. It makes for a nice, vibrant color. I sprayed on the die-cut balloon and then blotted and rubbed. After drying the balloon, I coated it in Versamark and then added a couple coats of clear embossing powder. The balloon got a little warped after all the "crafty abuse", so I mounted it on a couple card stock layers of die-cut balloons to help straighten it out. It worked. Voila.

The background was created by embossing with the Grid Stencil.  I love that thing.  I curled the string of my balloon with my crystal setting tool.  I used it like a curling iron. Voila.  I don't know why I keep saying voila… it must be the word of the day.  By the way, that is actually Hemp Cord that I colored black with my Copic marker.  Yep, you guessed it… voila!
